This is a good, solid ranch rope - I've used it for calf roping and also for practice roping on a greener horse I have. I use the breakaway for horse training. I rigged up a fake "calf" of sorts and I'll rope the calf with the horse and I can just pull a bit and keep going at it with the breakaway to get the horse used to the motions of the rope and a foreign object. It's an easy way to help a horse get used to things before you bring him out to do any actual roping - just a little step - and you can do it alone because of the breakaway. I have used the rope with the regular honda many, many times on my other horse out in the pasture and have mainly roped calves with it, and it is a stout, good rope and has hit for me every time. I just use it as a calf head rope. It is a nice length and great for just good old cowgirl work. ;) It will give a little unlike competition ropes that give that snap factor - I don't need that when I'm just trying to get the calf doctored in the pasture and then send it on its way! I showed the rope to a few cowboys I know who "know everything" and they liked the breakaway and regular honda aspect of the rope - thought it was a neat idea.
